In August 2016 Instagram introduced their new ‘Stories’ feature that would allow users and business profiles to snap pictures and short videos and draw on them, write over them, and even link them out to websites, product pages, and blog content. These stories help draw traffic in that channel out to where they can engage with anything you can point them to.

Instagram is the 2nd ranking social media platform among young adults, with 60% of users admitting to checking their feed EVERY DAY. The opportunity you miss by not going directly to this large chunk of users could be costing you.
5 Ways to Make Instagram Stories Work for Your Client or Brand:
1. Promote new blog posts
If you release new blog posts at regular intervals, or you have a great topic you know your followers will enjoy coming up, post an image with the title and a date to let them know it’s coming. This is a great way to build anticipation and have a larger audience response once it’s live.
2. Engage audiences directly by pointing out comments and reviews left by followers
By simply taking a picture or screenshot of a comment or review left by one of your followers, you can reach out to them directly and let them know you appreciated their feedback. This will help engage followers by letting them know you actually do read what they’re posting.
3. Show notes, excerpts and quotes that will interest your following
One thing most clients and brands underestimate is just how interested people are in the day-to-day life or behind-the-scenes info of someone. Just a quick update with how you’re planning to pass your time on a long flight can help give them that little boost they need and is a great way to promote a book or video.
4. Tease events or new videos
If you’re hosting a webinar, Twitter Chat, or releasing a new video you want followers to see, use that opportunity to post about it with your Instagram story. In the below example we pushed to an upcoming webinar for Rule #1 Investing so people could register for their free spot.
5. Drive traffic directly to your product or website
If you’re trying to get more people to visit your website or any product page, you can use the link feature on any verified Instagram account to post a story that links to a specific page. This allows you the ability to show a photo with a ‘see more’ swipe space that will load the web page within the Instagram app on a native viewer. It’s a great new feature that Instagram is slowly rolling out across the board.
